The short version: TrustScan scans codes entirely on your device. We do not run any servers, we have no account system, and we never receive, store, or sell your scans. The only third party involved is Google AdMob, which serves the single banner advert — and you can remove it by upgrading to Pro.
TrustScan ("the app") is developed and published by TrustScan ("we", "us"). If you have any question about this policy, contact us at alwinpatel3@gmail.com.
| Data | Why | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Camera image | To detect QR codes and barcodes in the live preview | Never leaves your device. Frames are analysed in memory and discarded immediately. Nothing is recorded, photographed, or uploaded. |
| Scan history | So you can find codes you scanned earlier | Stored only on your device in a local database. You can delete any entry, clear everything, or switch history off entirely in Settings. |
| Photos you choose | To scan a code from an existing image, and to add a logo to codes you create | Read on your device only. We never upload your photos. |
| Codes you create | To save a generated QR/barcode image to your gallery | Written to your own device storage, at your request. |
| Link safety checks | To warn you about suspicious or malicious links | Performed 100% offline. The checks run against rules built into the app. Scanned links are not sent to us or to any service. |
The free version of TrustScan shows a single banner advert supplied by Google AdMob. To serve it, the app must connect to Google, and Google may process device information such as your advertising identifier, approximate location derived from IP address, and device type. This is the only situation in which the app uses the internet.
Your scans, scan history, and camera data are never shared with advertisers. Google's handling of that data is governed by its own policy: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
You can stop this entirely by:
Pro is a single one-time purchase handled entirely by Google Play. We never see or store your payment details, name, or billing address — Play tells the app only whether the purchase exists.
Your purchase is verified on your device. We run no server to check receipts against, which is the same reason we hold no other data about you. Restoring on a new device asks Google Play, not us.
Pro adds an optional lock on your scan history using your device's existing fingerprint, face, or PIN. Android performs that check; the app is only told whether it succeeded. No biometric data is ever read, stored, or transmitted by TrustScan.
| Permission | Reason |
|---|---|
CAMERA | Required to scan codes. Used only while the Scan tab is open — the camera is released the moment you switch tabs. |
INTERNET | Used only to load the advert. Scanning works fully offline. |
VIBRATE | Optional haptic feedback when a code is detected. |
| Photos / storage | Only when you choose an image to scan, or save a code you created. |
USE_BIOMETRIC | Only if you turn on the optional lock for your scan history. Your fingerprint or face is checked by Android itself — the app never sees or stores biometric data. |
BILLING | Only if you choose to upgrade to Pro. Google Play handles the payment; we never see your card details. |
When you choose to open a scanned link, it is handed to your browser or another app on your device. Once you leave TrustScan, that destination's own privacy policy applies. TrustScan warns you first if a link shows signs of being unsafe, but you remain in control of whether to open it.
TrustScan is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Because your data stays on your device, you control it directly: delete individual scans, clear all history, turn history off for incognito scanning, or uninstall the app — which removes all locally stored data permanently. We hold no copy to delete.
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top and publish the revised version at this address. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
